Gulmarg

Gulmarg is one of the most beautiful places of Jammu and Kashmir. The best thing about Gulmarg is that it is a year round resort. It is a heavenly place and is beautiful hilly pasture surrounded by lofty snow-clad mountains. When the meadow gets blanketed under splendid white powder from the heavens during winters, it adopts a beauty that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. It receives some of the heaviest snowfall in the world and then it becomes a great ski destination.

Sonmarg

The Sonmarg famous as ‘ Meadow Of Gold’ is worth visiting destinations of Kashmir. It is the home of many famous and beautiful glaciers. The route from Srinagar to Sonmarg is  enthralling and beautiful. The drive goes along a furious hilly river Sindh overlooking a splendid green valley. During summers, beautiful flowers sprout giving it even more charm and beauty. The meadow, sprinkled with flowers, surrounded by mountains, carved by River Sindh and encircled by still lakes and great glaciers with thick Alpine forests makes it a wonderland of beauty. Apart from leisure trips, Sonmarg is also famous for trekking and other adventure sports. Rafting in River Sindh is the prime interest here.

Pahalgam

The Pahalgam hill station is undoubtedly is like heaven on earth. The snow covered peaks give you heart stealing views. The romantic atmosphere, the lush green meadows, the bubbling streams and rivers singing and dancing in mirth, the cool fresh breeze, the architectural huts for stay, cosy markets, kashmiri handicrafts and a lot more makes it an ideal destination for tourists.

Srinagar

Srinagar is the capital of Jammu and Kashmir. It is one of the top tourist places in Kashmir and situated on the banks of river Jhelum. Its waterways with their own quaint lifestyle, the unique Houseboat, the blossoming gardens, water sports activities, shopping for lovingly hand-crafted souvenirs and the close at hand resorts make it a cherished spot among those looking for a memorable travel. The famous Dal Lake is the eminent attraction of the valley. The eye luring beauty of the lake can’t be described in words, it is seamless. The Dal Lake enhances its charming setting, while the changing play of the seasons and the salubrious climate ensures that the city is equally attractive to visitors around the year.The major places for sightseeing in Srinagar are Hazratbal Shirne,Shankaracharya Temple,Khanqah-e-Molla,Jama Masjid, Cheshma Shahi and Pari Mahal,Nishat Garden,Shalimar Garden,Dal Lake,Nagin Lake etc.

Patnitop

 

Patnitop is a hill station in the Udhampur district of Jammu division. It is a beautiful place and is at its best during the winter when it is covered under thick sheets of snow. However, the road to the region gets closed frequently during winters due to snowfall. There are many beautiful and interesting places located around this tourist place. River Chenab flows in close proximity. A beautiful lake, Sanasar is located close to it and is worth a visit. The region is a charming place with breath-taking natural beauty. The environment is calm, with thick pine forests and it is ideal for a picnic. In winters it is thronged by skiers. However the main attraction of the place is paragliding. The thrill of flying can be enjoyed at Diyawarai nearby. Paragliding, camping, trekking, rock climbing and other adventures is available near Sanasar Lake. There are many beautiful places also around Patnitop.

Sanasar

Sanasar is a famous hill spot located 19 kms west of Patnitop in Udhampur district of Jammu & Kashmir. If you do not like being in a noisy hill station, crowded with tourists, Sanasar is the best place to be in. Sanasar is a picturesque cup shaped meadow, surrounded by coniferous trees and a lake in the center. One can compare this place with Khajjiar in Himachal Pradesh; looks almost identical, almost same environment. The area is notable for its scenic views of mountain ranges. It is a hub for adventure activities like paragliding, trekking and camping. A visit to Sanasar will certainly provide you with everlasting memories.

Pilgrimage to the Holy Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji is considered to be one of the holiest pilgrimages in India.Popular the world over as the Mother who fulfills whatever Her children wish for, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji resides in a Holy Cave located in the folds of the three peaked mountain named Trikuta. Being located in one of the most breath-taking locations, it is among one of the best places to visit in Kashmir. Irrespective of the time, Vaishno Devi always has its share of visitors. The best time to visit is during summer when the weather is just perfect on the mountains. In the middle of the journey to Holy Shrine, the ArdhKuwari Temple cave is a must visit. The pilgrimage to Vaishnodevi is considered incomplete till this temple is visited. Sanjichhat is a beautiful spot located at a distance of 3.25 km from Ardhkunwari. The panoramic view of the valley and snow covered Himalayan peaks can be enjoyed from here. Vaishno Devi is not merely a hindu pilgrimage; it is a site of spiritual cleansing and resuscitation for the heart that truly seeks the divine.

Shiv Khori

Shivkhori is a nice religious place of Lord Shiva in Hinduism. Most of the visitors to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi temple (Katra) also visits this Shiva temple, which is in the form of a shivalinga formed by a rock. The cave is located around 70 km from katra. Chinab river flows in the way enroute shivkhori. So you can stop for rafting. On reaching shivkhori, you will have to go through a narrow cave to get inside the main place. There pandits will tell you the back story about the cave. It is considered that Lord Shiva resided here in this cave, before leaving to Amarnath cave. Must visit, if you are in Katra with some extra days.
