Kutch Rann

Somnath

Somnath Temple in Gujrat is one of the most sacred religious places for Hindus. This important pilgrimage destination is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and people visit this temple as one of the place in Char Dham Yatra. Primarily a temple town, Somnath is a place where a strong scent of religion and legends lingers around tourism, however, Somnath also offers beaches, museums and other attractions. Somnath Temple, Somnath Beach, Paanch Pandav Gufa, Laxminarayan Temple are main places to visit here.

Dwarka

 

Because of its mythological reference, this city is esteemed high as a spiritual center. Appearing to be rising from Arabian Sea, it is believed that the entire Dwarka Island was submerged in the sea and it’s recent architecture support this theory. Dwarka was a part of the ancient kingdom of Krishna and Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of the twelve jyotirlingas, is also located here. For these reasons, it enjoys a remarkable religious significance and attracts thousands of pilgrims all year around. Dwarkadheesh Temple, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, Rukmini Devi Temple, Bet Dwarka, Gomti River Ghat are main places to visit. The beachside and the seashores are an added tourist attractions.

Junagarh

The city which literally means ‘Old Fort’ is dotted with Hindus and Buddhist Temples, Mosques and many other historical structures. Mahabat Maqbara, Girnar Hills, Adi-Kadi Vav and Navghan Kuwo, Edicts of Ashoka, Buddhist Caves, Shri Swaminarayan Temple, Darbar Hall Museum, Willingdon Dam are main places to visit in and near Junagarh.

Gir National Park

Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is the only remaining home for the Asiatic Lions. Gir provides you with the unique experience of visiting a  place which almost singularly plays a crucial and defining role in the preservation and sustaining of certain species. With approximately 295 species of birds, 39 species of mammals and 37 species of reptiles, Gir boasts a fantastic array of fauna. Amongst the carnivores, other than the famed Asiatic Lion, Gir is home to the Indian leopards, golden jackals, sloth bears, desert cats and striped hyenas. The herbivores at Gir include Neelgai, four horned antelope and the less frequently seen blackbucks. With an undulating terrain with moderately high hills and plateaus, Gir Forest provides an excellent landscape for a variety of flora and fauna. It is most advisable to visit the reserve during winters from December to March where the minimum temperatures fall to approximately 10 degrees.
