Kufri

Kufri is a small hill station located 20 km from the state capital Shimla. It is an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is very famous for skiing and hiking. The best time to visit Kufri is summer, months from April to June but the skiing season though, touches peaks from November to February. Dharmshala

 

Located in Western Himachal region, Dharamshala is a prominent name in Buddhist tour to the state, as the home of Dalai Lama and all the Tibetans in exile. Macleodganj

Mcleodganj is a beautiful town situated near upper Dharamsala. It is famous for being home to the world-renowned Tibetan spiritual leader the 14th Dalai Lama. For people wishing to learn meditation and Buddhism, adventure seekers who want to trek in the Himalayas, Mcleodganj is the perfect destination. It is a spiritual place, mostly Buddhist in nature.

Khajjiar

Khajjiar is a small grassy meadow located in the picturesque Chamba valley. Often referred to as the ‘mini-Switzerland of India’, Khajjiar is a small town which provides tourists a combination of forests, lakes and pastures. The saucer-shaped meadow, ringed by pines, has a lake set in the middle, complete with a floating bland. A little golden-spired temple of Khajjinag belonging to the 12th century and a picturesque golf course complete this pretty picture.

Chail

Chail, along with Kufri and Shimla is called the Golden Triangle of Himachal Pradesh. Despite being located close to Shimla, this hill station is free from the crowds that throng Shimla and consequently allows travelers to enjoy the scenic beauty and charm of the place in relative peace. Located in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh, the small hamlet called Chail is a place where time stands still. Nature is at her exuberant best and words like pollution and deforestation have never entered the dictionary of a person living in Chail.

Kullu

Located in the charming Kullu valley in Himachal Pradesh and set amongst the lower reaches of the mighty Himalayas, the small town of Kullu is famous for its temples, apple, orchards and the snowline, all of which attract hordes of tourists. Kasauli

Nestled in the Shivalik hills with a mix of pine and oak trees as well as a large number of neat gardens and orchards, Kasauli offers an ideal escape from the steaming plains of northern India. Its history, coupled with the pleasant temperate mountain climate and beautiful scenic grandeur gives it the feel of a colonial charm. Kasauli is a quaint little town that seems to exist in time wrap of an era that reminds one of the 19th century. Its colonial ambience is reinforced by cobbled paths, quaint shops, gabled houses with charming facades and scores of neat little gardens and orchards. The beauty of this quiet little town is reinforced by its avenues of Himalayan Oaks, Chir Pines, Horse Chestnut trees and the odd Juniper, which run along the edges of the two main roads. Solan

Known as the “mushroom city of India” on account of its mushroom farming, Solan is the largest city in Himachal Pradesh and situated 50 km from Shimla. Solan is largely a forested land surrounded by hills and mountains. The hill station primarily serves as a gateway to other popular hill stations like Kasauli, Kalka and Chail. The town is also titled ‘city of red gold’ for it produces hordes of tomatoes in the region. Set against the backdrop of the white hills, this little town studded with pine and deodar forests boasts of a stunning natural beauty. The rich architectural heritage of Solan makes it one of the most popular tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh. Trekking and camping are some of the most popular activities in Solan.

Dalhausie

Dalhousie lies in Himachal Pradesh, on the western edge of the mighty Himalayan Dhauladhar range. Spread over five hills, Dalhousie has a serenity of its own. Situated far from the buzzing cities in the country, this quaint town has bright green pastures of land, evergreen beauty of mountains draped in snow and tranquillity. Panch Pulla, Satdhara Falls and the Daikund peak are some of the picturesque attractions here. Manikaran

A perfect blend of religious landmarks, hot springs and the stunning landscape make Manikaran one of the most visited places in Himachal Pradesh. The small town of Manikaran is known to be an important pilgrimage centre for both Hindus and Sikhs. As per popular Hindu mythology it is believed that the first form of human life was created in Manikaran, after intense floods. Manikaran is also an important religious destination for Sikhs due to the presence of the iconic Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Gurudwara. The highlight of Manikaran is the Hot Water Springs. These hot springs are known to contain traces of metals such as Sulphur and Uranium, which have healing properties. The food grains of the Manikaran Valley are enriched by the hot springs and surrounding freshwater rivers, making them taste a little superior to the normal ones. Remember to tantalize your tongue with the spicy flavours of the region and indulge in some tasty street food and local beverages. 

Narkanda

Narkanda, a sleepy little village located at a distance of about 65 kilometers from Shimla, is a gateway to the apple country of Himachal Pradesh. It offers a spectacular view of apple orchards and dense forests. It is also perfect for tourists who are seeking peace and a secluded place to relax in the mountains. Narkanda is most famous for skiing & winter sports. During winter, the slopes of Narkanda come alive with skiers. It is also an amazing place to practice photography.

Narkanda is a delight to visit all around in the year, but There is heavy snowfall here winters, hence carrying woolens is required.

Palampur

Palampur is a beautiful hill town in the main Kangra valley, surrounded on all sides by tea gardens, gurgling streams, pine trees and rhododendrons.

It is also called the Tea Capital of north India.

Palampur is known for the enchanting combination of mountains, water, forests, farms and meadows. Spiti

No list is complete without the mention of this magical land. Spiti in local dialect translates as “the Middle Land” and actually it is the middle land between Tibet and India. Spiti’s barren and rocky landscape is something of a sight. The tough terrain here is the main reason behind its virginal landscapes and simple lifestyles. The unique culture and beauty are the major enchantments. It remains frozen and nearly uninhabitable for six month. The best time to visit Lahaul and Spiti is between the months of May to October. Kinnaur

Also known as “the land of fairy tales,” Kinnaur is a offbeat place in Himachal Pradesh. One of the twelve jewels of Himachal Pradesh, it is the gateway to the Spiti Valley as well. With the perfect composition of elevation, climate and topography, Kinnaur hosts some of the most beautiful places of Himachal Pradesh. This land of Kinnaur has got the spectacular terrain of lush green valleys, orchards, vineyards, snow clad peaks and cold desert mountains. It’s a dry and very cold area, and in the right season (July-August) its quietness, great visibility, wonderful views and somewhat mysterious atmosphere all make it a great area to explore. Kinnaur is also rich in history with many mythological legends and forts and temples with fine and artistic wood carvings.

Bir Billing

Bir is a village located in the west of Joginder Nagar Valley in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Mostly referred as “Paragliding Capital of India”, Bir is also a noted centre for ecotourism, spiritual studies and meditation. Billing is situated 14 km from Bir. While Billing is the takeoff site for paragliding and Bir village is for landing; collectively it is known “Bir Billing”. Billing presents a panoramic view of the valley below. The best season for paragliding in Bir and Billing is from March to May and then again from October to November. Bir is also home to a Tibetan refugee settlement with several Buddhist monasteries and a large stupas. Sangla Valley

Sangla valley, is a scenic hill-town in the Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh, close to the Tibetan border. It is also known as Baspa Valley since Baspa river flows through this area.
